THE MATERIAL ATELIER

The Material Atelier is a laboratory of curiosity. We exist to challenge the boundary between the physical and the digital, the ancient and the futuristic. We don’t just "make" products—we architect living systems. Our work begins with a radical obsession: the belief that every object is a web of relationships, waiting to be activated.

The Material Atelier treats design as a living system. We focus on the Origin—the explosive fusion of raw material and digital logic—and the Life—the journey of interaction and lifecycle. For us, purpose isn't found in the object itself, but in the electric web of relationships that sustain it.

SCIENCE

Our research starts where the naked eye fails. We believe true material understanding requires looking through the lens to decode the hidden behaviors and patterns that make matter special. This archive is a continuous exploration of the invisible landscape—a commitment to knowing our materials at a cellular level so we can better design their Origin and their Life.

PRINCIPLE

The Material Atelier follows 5 principles that echoless our brand .

SYSTEM

Data is the pulse of a living system. We utilize data-driven research to validate our material choices and system logic. Through advanced visualization, we make the invisible visible—providing the empirical foundation needed to turn complex insights into confident recommendations.

By bridging the microscopic with the systemic, and ancient principles with modern data, The Material Atelier crafts a future where objects are no longer static—they are vibrant, regenerative participants in an interconnected world.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Benjamin is a material enthusiast and systems thinker. With a Master’s in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins and over a decade of experience as a Product Development Director in the global fashion industry, Ben’s work is a relentless search for the Origin (本).

His practice is defined by a fascination with the microscopic world and a drive to integrate AI-driven logic into the material craft. Now based in Singapore, he is dedicated to innovating how we build our world—from robotic rattan weaving to sustainable, data-backed material systems.
